"You don't have to do this anymore, Al."
Alfred wasn't listening to you. It was early in the morning but the burger-lover was wide awake, going over his plans for the day. There was so much to do... Fly to DC for the President's press conference, then to New York to pay his respects, then back to DC to speak with the General. There wouldn't even be time for ice cream.
You walked over behind him and hugged his waist. "Al, you stress over this day all year. Don't you think it's time to forget?" He didn't answer. "A lot of people think this war is a mistake. I'm not too big on politics and--"
"Are you including yourself in that group?" he asked finally. But he lacked that loud, boisterous tone he always carried. It never ceased to amaze you how serious he could be.
You sighed. "No Al. I was going to say I know this is really important to you. I just don't want you to get hurt..."
He turned to you. "__________," he kissed your cheek. "I can't ever forget this. This is worse than anything I've ever been through because it cost civilians their lives. And for what? So some wannabe big shots could sneak off and go into hiding? I'm not gonna give up now, especially when I'm so close I could taste victory.
You smiled. You were so patriotic and you loved Alfred so much. But you also cared about his safety. His ongoing cold hasn't been cured yet, and his headaches don't seem to be getting any better. How can he fight when he's ripping himself up from the inside? You thought quickly. The mood was getting a little stiff, and you had just the thing to lighten it up. "Promise me something."
"Hmm? What's that?" he smiled. Some of his attitude was coming back, but it wasn't enough to convince you.
You moved from your heels to your toes and back. "The (favorite football team) are playing on Friday. Take me out?" you asked innocently with a wide grin.
Alfred couldn't contain his excitement; he always wants to go out with you. "HAHAHAHAHA!" he laughed his trademark laugh. "You're on, __________!" He picked you up and spun you onto the counter. Good job, you, you managed to get his mind off this dreadful day! Alfred suddenly grew quiet. "You know, you are the girl for me," he leaned up and kissed you softly. "That's why I want you to marry me."
You blinked. "W-what?"
He winked at you. "I won't accept any objections."
You choked back tears. "Who's objecting?"
Without warning, he brushed his lips against yours and headed for the door. "By the way, I'm taking you out for dinner tonight. Pick yourself out something nice."
You heard to door click shut and looked at your hand, imagining a wedding ring on it. Except something was in your way. A small silver band with a beautiful (favorite gem) and lined with diamonds fit snugly on your ring finger. You hadn't even noticed when he slipped it on. You only knew you were smiling too much for your own good when your cheeks started to hurt. "Way to go, me," you giggled and started off with your day. Alfred proposed to you on the worst day of the year. Maybe now he'll start forgetting the tragedy that happened more than a decade ago.

"____?" a familiar voice called out. "Do you know where the flags are?"
"Yeah, um in the storage," you shouted back, your voice echoing off of the decorative walls of Alfred's house.
"Okay!" was the call back.
"Hurry up Al, the fireworks are gonna start soon!" You heard his footsteps on the tile fade away as he made his way to the storage room.
You continued your decorating, absorbed in your work. You two were decorating Alfred's house for his birthday, which was today. You had wanted to decorate it last week but he had been busy with his friends. Sometimes, the American was just too much for you. I mean, sure, y

The war was long and brutal many life's were taken and many families were broken when they found out the father or son was reported dead.
For you your father and mother was taken away from you while you were young but not having parents to guide you on where not to go and what not to do caused you to always follow the bad crowd.

Revolutionary Moment AmericaXReaderXCanadaXEngland
The answer would be revolutionary. The question already was. You had to respond to the question right then and there. The three of them asked. And now you stood there in front of the three boys as they waited for you to answer them.
America, Canada, and England...all dressed in their Revolutionary War Uniforms. Why was this? Let's just say their question had to do with Revolutionary War Uniforms.
You remembered what you had promised them just a few days ago. "If you all come to me in your Revolutionary War Uniforms then I'll let you three ask me anything you want. But, it has to be one question the three of you came up with. Not to mention

I was only 9 years old. Just started 4th grade when the principal on the PA told us what happened
My jaw dropped and my heart broke
Came home around 3pm and the first thing I watched was the news coverage
*Hugs America* felt like yesterday
